Outside 40' L x 8' W x 9'6" H
40ft high cube shipping containers for sale
A 40 with an extra foot of height. Easier to stand, stack shelving and fit taller equipment, and the most common new 40.
High cubes are 9 ft 6 in tall on the outside instead of 8 ft 6 in. That extra foot means about 13 percent more volume and a door opening tall enough for most people to walk through without ducking.
Most new (one-trip) 40s are built as high cubes, so if you want a clean, new 40 this is often the one that is easiest to find.

Pick a grade
Every size comes in three grades. The grade decides how it looks and how much life it has left; all three lock and keep the weather out.
- New / one-trip: Built new, shipped loaded once, then retired. As close to new as containers get.
- Cargo-worthy (used): Used, but structurally sound enough to be judged fit to carry cargo when it was inspected.
- Wind and watertight (used): The budget grade. Retired from shipping, cosmetically worn, but keeps wind and water out.
