Estimates, not quotes. Typical delivered ranges (container plus standard tilt-bed delivery nearby) as of October 2026. Your price depends on your ZIP code, distance from the depot, stock and options, and is confirmed with your quote before you pay anything.

What moves the price

1. Distance from the depot

Delivery is usually the second-biggest part of the price. Close to a depot it's a short run; out in the country it can be a long one. That's the main reason prices differ by ZIP code.

2. Grade

New (one-trip) containers cost the most. Cargo-worthy sits in the middle. Wind-and-watertight is the budget pick. New vs used, honestly compared.

3. Size and height

A 40 costs more than a 20, but usually much less than twice as much, so it's cheaper per square foot. High cubes cost a little more than standard height.

4. Local stock

Depots in port cities and rail hubs often have more boxes and better prices. Inland, supply can be thinner. When a size or grade is short near you, we say so instead of padding the quote.

5. Doors and modifications

Double doors and open sides are mostly built new and cost more than a standard box. Roll-up doors, windows, vents, shelving and lock boxes are priced separately. Door options explained.

6. Site conditions

A straightforward drop on firm ground is standard. If your site needs extra time, a different truck or special equipment, we tell you before you agree.

What's not in a typical quote

  • Site prep such as a gravel pad or blocks (we explain what's needed; site prep guide)
  • Permits or HOA approvals, if your area requires them
  • Anchoring, painting, insulation or electrical work, unless you ask us to price it

Pricing questions

Why don't you show one fixed price?

Because there isn't one. Container prices change with steel costs and shipping demand, and depot stock varies by city. Delivery depends on distance. A fixed price on a website would either be wrong for you or padded to cover the worst case. We would rather quote your real number.

Is delivery included in the quote?

Yes. The price we send is the container plus standard tilt-bed delivery to your address. Anything that could add cost, such as a long distance, a tricky site or a modification, is spelled out before you agree.

Do prices change after I agree?

Your quote states what it includes and how long it is good for. If something on delivery day would change it, such as the truck not being able to reach the agreed spot, we talk to you before anything else happens.

Is a used container really much cheaper than new?

Usually by one to two thousand dollars or more on the same size, sometimes less when used stock is tight. For storage that sits out of sight, used is often the better value. For a visible spot or a conversion, new is usually worth it.

Can I pay a deposit to hold a container?

We confirm the exact container, price and delivery window with you first and explain payment then. Container Koala never asks for card details through a form on this website.
