Container grade
New (one-trip) shipping containers
Built new, shipped loaded once, then retired. As close to new as containers get.
What "new / one-trip" means
A one-trip container was manufactured, loaded with cargo for a single ocean voyage, unloaded, and sold. It has not spent years in service.
If the container will sit next to your house, be modified, or needs to look good for a business, one-trip is the grade to pick. It costs more, but you are paying for decades of life ahead of it rather than behind it.
One-trip boxes are where you find the options: high cubes, double doors and open sides are mostly built new.
What to expect
- Clean, even paint and straight panels
- Doors that swing and seal easily
- A clean, dry floor
- Possibly a few small scuffs or scrapes from that one trip
What it isn't
- It is not showroom perfect: handling marks happen
- Exact paint color depends on what the depot has
Best for: Visible spots near the house, conversions and workshops, and anyone who wants the longest life.
Typical delivered prices for this grade
- 20ft standard: $3,900 to $6,000 (estimate)
- 40ft standard: $5,200 to $7,500 (estimate)
- 40ft high cube: $5,500 to $8,000 (estimate)
Your exact price depends on your ZIP code, distance from the depot and stock. What affects the price.
Other grades
- Cargo-worthy (used): Used, but structurally sound enough to be judged fit to carry cargo when it was inspected.
- Wind and watertight (used): The budget grade. Retired from shipping, cosmetically worn, but keeps wind and water out.
